Thanks to a microgrant granted by the MLEF, Keriann Eklund, a teacher at MLHS was able to partner with The Writers Circle and hosted one of their writers to run a creative writing workshop.
Michelle Cameron, one of their directors and published author, visited the class to run a wonderful hour-long lesson on character.
The students are in the middle of drafting their first major short story, so this workshop was very beneficial to their character development.
Students did brainstorming and discussion with Michelle, then they did character interviews in pairs. They then shared their results from the interviews and had a few extra minutes to interview Michelle about her own writing process.
